French shea butter, also called Karité (life), is obtained exclusively from tropical Africa. It is made from the nuts of the shea tree and only produces fruit after about 15 years. Shea butter contains 7 to 12% unsaponifiable matter, which allows it to easily penetrate the skin and, when applied to its surface, allows the skin to breathe and does not clog pores.
