Pumpkin is an annual plant from the squash family, comprising about 20 species. In the wild, it grows in warm and humid climates throughout the Americas. This seasonal, Halloween-themed vegetable is now grown primarily in the United States. Due to its low caloric content, squash is recommended for weight loss.
Butternut squash is a vegetable with nutritional properties and flavor similar to squash. It has a characteristic oblong pear shape, slightly yellowish or light orange skin, a relatively small size, and sweet flesh with a musky aroma. Butternut squash is an excellent source of beta-carotene, vitamins A, B, E, and C, phosphorus, iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and manganese. It is recommended for obese people, those with gluten intolerance, and diabetics.
