Haritaki is a tree that grows in South Asia and Sri Lanka. The small green fruits of this tree are used in Ayurvedic medicine. It plays a key role in Tibetan medicine, where it is called the "king of medicine" and is found in almost all Tibetan herbal recipes. It is one of the three components of the Triphala mixture.
