Bergamot oil 10 ml - VIVIO
Natural bergamot oil is used to treat various types of infections and has antiseptic properties. It is also used in aromatherapy. It helps relieve nervous tension, and when added to baths, it facilitates relaxation after a hard day. It has also found application in the food industry. It is used, for example, to flavor teas. When taken orally, it has an expectorant effect and stimulates digestion. It is an ingredient in many perfumes and toilet soaps.
It is an essential oil obtained from the peel of the bergamot fruit (Citrus bergamia). It reaches a height of up to 4 meters. The fruits are harvested from December to March. Older trees (over 12 years old) can bear up to 800 fruits. From this amount, you can obtain from 0.5 kg to 1 kg of oil. The Italian physician Franceso Calabro became interested in the properties of bergamot oil in the 19th century. It is in southern Italy, in the Calabria region, that this plant is cultivated. However, India is considered the homeland of bergamot. Bergamot oil has a pleasant aroma characterized by the freshness of citrus fruits. The taste is bitter. Its color varies from dark yellow to green. Its color depends on the season in which the bergamots are harvested. The oil is obtained by pressing (squeezing) the outer part of the peel. In the initial production process, peelers are used to separate the skin from the fruit. The raw material is then steam distilled. This produces the highest-quality oil. Less valuable oils are also produced, including raw materials left over from the first pressing and fruit that has fallen from the trees naturally or due to weather conditions.
The composition of bergamot oil was established only in the 90s of the last century. The vast majority (93-96%) of it consists of volatile substances. The dominant ones among them are: limonene (40%), linalool (8%), and linalool acetate (28%). Bergamot oil may also contain furanocoumarins. Its composition also depends on the place of origin of the fruit from which the oil is produced.
Scientists highlight the many healing properties of bergamot oil. Due to its research-proven antimicrobial activity (acts against bacteria, fungi, and viruses), it is useful in the treatment of pharyngitis and tonsillitis. It is used as a cough suppressant for colds and flu. It also has a positive effect on nervous, cardiovascular, and liver functions. Bergamot oil is characterized by antioxidant properties and, in addition, has a pleasant scent and soothes nervous tension. Therefore, it is used for massage and aromatherapy. What else does the oil help with? When taken orally, it acts as a carminative, diuretic, and stimulates digestion. In the food industry, it is used to flavor certain products (including teas and sweets). Earl Grey tea owes its unique aroma to bergamot oil.
Due to its antiseptic, antibacterial, and soothing properties, bergamot oil is widely used in cosmetics. Its beautiful fragrance makes it an ingredient in many perfumes, colognes, and soaps. This natural oil can be used at home in a variety of ways. However, remember not to apply it to your skin yourself. It should always be combined with a carrier oil. Coconut oil, for example, can be used for this purpose. In this form, it can be used as a lotion or for massages. It's a good idea to add a few drops of essential oil to your body wash or facial cleanser. When combined with a shampoo or hair mask, it can reduce static electricity and soothe scalp irritation. It will also leave a beautiful scent on your locks!
