Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (ATCC 53103) is a strain of bacteria and probiotics whose properties have been confirmed by approximately 1000 tests. It is characterized by a very high survival rate in acidic environments and adherence to intestinal epithelial cells. It stimulates the secretion of protective mucins that make the intestines resistant to antibiotics and pathogens.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG is effective in preventing, treating symptoms, and reducing the duration of diarrhea caused by antibiotic therapy, infection, or travel. It has also been documented to be effective in preventing the development of nosocomial diarrhea, particularly RV gastroenteritis.
