DESCRIPTION
Orzo (also known as Risoni) is a small dried pasta shaped like rice grains.
According to Italians, the grains resemble barley. For this reason, the product is called Orzo, which means barley in Italian.
This is a well-known pasta variety in most Mediterranean countries. In Israel, it's called "ptim," in Greece, it's called "kritharaki," and in Turkey, it's called "arpa şehriye." The product is also well-known in Arabia.
In Sicily, where orzo originates, people use this pasta mainly as an addition to soups.
But there are many other ways to prepare it, for example with tomato sauce or pesto, or even as a pilaf with grilled vegetables.
Perfect for a quick risotto called orzotto.
