DESCRIPTION

Organic Shiitake Mushrooms, also known as Scleros, are Japanese mushrooms grown on the dead logs of deciduous trees. They are becoming increasingly popular due to their valuable nutritional properties. They are particularly popular in oriental cuisine. We recommend subjecting shiitake mushrooms to a brief heat treatment (approximately 5 minutes), otherwise they will harden. Depending on the use (e.g., for sauces), it is worth soaking them for about 30 minutes before use.
