The SIBO test for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is a hydrogen breath test performed at a dietetic clinic in Wrocław. It allows you to check the body's digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. The test measures the hydrogen level in exhaled air on an empty stomach and after the patient has consumed carbohydrates.

What does the test look like?

Only inpatient at the Biogo Dietetic Clinic located at ul. Szewska 18. First, the dietitian performs a biological test - the patient, on an empty stomach, inhales deeply and then blows air into the measuring device, which measures the initial hydrogen level. Then, the patient is given a lactulose solution. The final step is to take samples at appropriate intervals (the number and frequency of samples depends on the type of saccharides used). A corresponding increase in the hydrogen level in the exhaled air compared to the biological test may indicate an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine.

Duration of the study:

180 minutes. Immediately after the examination, the patient receives the test result along with the interpretation.
